College Policies
Alcohol Policy
New York State law prohibits the distribution, sale, purchase, possession, and consumption of alcoholic beverages by anyone under the age of 21.
Individual consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons of legal drinking age is not allowed in the public areas of the residence halls.
Permission for an organized public or private gathering at which alcoholic beverages will be consumed must be approved and registered. Party permission forms are available from the Office of Residential Life. Party permission forms must be filed by noon of the Wednesday prior to the event. The sponsor of a party must be 21 years of age. Non-alcoholic refreshments and food must be available for the duration of every gathering where alcoholic beverages are being served. If the event is held in an approved residence hall location, it must be approved by the House Advisor and the Office of Campus Activities.
(For more specifics, see College Regulations Handbook)
Drugs
The use, possession, and distribution of hallucinogenic drugs, barbiturates, marijuana, amphetamines, narcotics, and certain other drugs are prohibited by law (except on a prescription) and are therefore prohibited by college regulations.
Intoxication from any drug (including alcohol) does not excuse the behavior of students violating college regulations. Students will be held responsible for their actions should they be found in violation of the college drug policy.
Guests
Each Vassar student may sponsor no more than three guests on campus at any given time. Guest passes are issued at the residence hall in which the host resident resides. Prior permission from the Office of Residential Life is necessary to host more than three guests.
All guests must carry valid guest passes at all times.
Any guest remaining in a residence hall for an unreasonable length of time (defined as beyond three nights), or any guest who disturbs Vassar students or property will be asked to leave the campus. Extended guest passes may be obtained through the Office of Residential Life.
Students are responsible for the conduct of their guests and must accompany them at all times. Guests are subject to all college regulations.
(For more specifics regarding guests, see College Regulations Handbook, Part G, Item B, Section 1)

Possession of the following are prohibited on campus: firearms of any type; ballistic devices of any description; explosives, ammunition or unauthorized fireworks; BB guns; slingshots; smoke bombs; and knives.
The use of any object as a weapon is prohibited.
The use of martial arts may be termed as a weapon.
