Ferry House

Designed by Marcel Breuer, the architect who championed modernism in the U.S., Ferry House opened in 1951, offering a cooperative housing option to Vassar students.  A close-knit community of 20 students, Ferry residents are committed to sustainable and environmentally aware cooperative living.  They pay a nominal board fee at the start of each semester for food supplies, and each resident undertakes a regular household task (shopping, cooking, cleaning).
